I love the dance. I love awakening others to the dance inside them. I invite clients to fully experience their bodies and use the information held there to consciously work with the patterns and cycles in their lives.
Using the Open Floor movement practice , we will explore the core resources that are inherent in everything we do, and find ways to move and include it all. We find the intersections between the emotional, the physical, the mind, and soul and how they relate to our basic hungers, that for solitude, connection, belonging, and connection to spirit.
Somatics=relating to the body. When we work somatically, we incorporate the body into our awareness. This can look many different ways.
In Therapy in Motion, we bring movement, we bring the dance into the therapy room. Whether working 1-1 or in small groups, we allow the dynamic intelligence of our bodies to guide the way.
Methods of working could include somatic resourcing, such as breathing, body awareness, grounding exercises, using postures or actual movement to notice and shift unhealthy or undesired patterns. Sessions are held mostly on our feet, off the couch, and I move with you as we explore.
Movement gets us out of our heads and into our bodies. It moves fluids around, shifting stagnant energy. Movement can also release what has been stuck from the past, and unlock mysteries that the mind can’t grasp. Conscious movement is a way to contact, communicate, and connect with the divine spirit. It’s a healing, a connection, an answer, and a release. It’s traversing the edge, the line that moves between all things, all decisions.
When we lose focus, life is calling us to stop, go into the body, find where the energy is, where the sensation is. We can track it, follow it, and when we reach it, sit with it. It dissolves, moves, and transforms. "When we give ourselves over completely to the dance, it aligns us, gets all the disparate parts of us in sync. When we move, we’re in the moment, conscious of our bodies for better or worse. And its in our bodies where all the mental and emotional undercurrents are happening.” -Gabrielle Roth
